Gyprocks delivered

This was totally unexpected! I had thought the site would be close off for Christmas - New Year holidays and they would only resume work mid or late Jan 2011.

However I dropped by around sunset and found out gyprocks had been delivered and piled up in the garage.

Actually putting them up should not take very long so as long as it has been scheduled to work on this week, there is in fact a chance it can be done within next one day or two! A visit later this week will tell!

I've got another neighbour!

Got a mail from council advising that my another next door has also submitted their application for their house. So my next door will not be an empty block for too long! Good News!

What's more interesting was that they are building a Concerto with Raza facade with Allworth.

My final two short listings when I was selecting my build were Galleria 210 from Jennings or Concerto from Allworth. I finally chose Galleria 210 and now my next door is going to build a Concerto!

Week 47 - We've got insulation, AKA pink bags

I didn't expect to see there progress prior today's visit as I thought many tradies would have been in the industry standard 5-week Christmas shutdown. However I did see the insulation is being put on but not quite completed yet. Not sure if they will finish it next week.

Even so these are what were done in the past 4 weeks:
  • Week 44: nothing
  • Week 45: bricks cleaned
  • Week 46: air conditioning ducts and electrical
  • Week 47: insulation partially done
That was not terribly a lot I have to say. It's probably 1 week worth of work really. We'll just have to wait and see how they go once they come back from Christmas break. Fingers crossed!

Aircon pipes and electrical wires

Apparently air conditioning pipes and electrical wires are being installed.

I assume they will also need to do insulation before putting gyprocks.

The electrical wires. The blue one is the Ethernet cable connecting study room and lounge. The black one is the TV antenna and the white ones are power wires.

New Satellite Imagine - 17 October

New satellite imagine has been published. The photo was taken on 17 Oct but only published today, after 8 weeks! I guess that's how long it takes to process the imagines.

Unfortunately the photo was taken just after the slab was done so apart from seeing the concrete you can't see too much else :-D.

Week 46 - Looks like a waiting game again!

The site fence has been left open like that for the past three days. I texted my SS after I swung by building site last night. He replied 6-ish o'clock this morning and said he would check it out.

He also said we are waiting for A/C and alarm to be installed and to finish the relative electrical wirings. After that we can do the gyprocks. Assuming the 5-week shutdown is for the last week in December and whole month in January, we still have two weeks to go for the rest of this year so there is still a chance that gyprocks will be done by then! Let's see!

This would mean in the last three weeks (from Week 44 to Week 46) there would have been only one-day worth of works done - that was cleaning the bricks on Monday last week! A bit disappointing but not out of norm anyway!

Week 45 - Bricks cleaned, but not much else

As I was saying earlier I sent a text on Monday morning to my SS asking about the progress as last week (Week 44) there was basically no works done.

He rang me back within half an hour and told me what the plan was for this week - Good communication! Credit to the SS!

That said not much else was done physically. The bricks were cleaned, as promised, on Monday but that was very much what was done this week.

No sign of Gyprocks starting so that's probably for next week! Before long everyone will move into holiday mood so fingers crossed something more will be done before that!

Allworth Harmony - Not a bad design indeed!

Week 44 - No work done

I think the builder is waiting for sub contractors to finish electrical wirings before they can put Gyprock.

It looks like there is absolutely nothing done this week!

UPDATE Monday 29 Nov:

I texted my SS this morning just to ask him what the schedule might be since I haven't seen any progress for last week!

He rang me back within half an hour and told me that:

  • the bricks will be cleaned today;
  • the eaves will be installed afterwards;
  • then electrical wirings will be completed (some of them already done)
  • and then Gyprocks will start

Sounds very good and the fact that the SS responded so quickly is even more appreciated!

Too Much Rain

We are only half way through November (today is 16th) and the rainfall this month (100 mm) has already exceeded long term November monthly average (85.9 mm).

Week 42 - Bricking started, but not a lot progress

Brick-ing has started but not much progress so far.

Only the front of the house was done and the weather was getting hot recently - 36 degree by 11am this morning! This would slow down the progress too I think!

Week 41 - New SS, and brick delivery?

I am guessing Jennings may be reading my blogs ...

A few house after I posted previous blog, I got a call from Mark at about 10 and apparently he's my new site supervior. I was told because there are too many houses being built at the moment my previous SS Brian couldn't handle them all so Mark is taking some of the houses over from Brain.

So after a bit of small chats with Mark he told me the bricks will be delivered today and he expects bricking to start around Tuesday next week! Sounds pretty good doesn't it?

Maybe I'll have a few photos of the bricks (if they do get delivered) by Saturday?

UPDATE on 6 Nov: So bricks have indeed been delivered ... we'll just use neighbour's land for now as storage ... thank you neighbour!

UPDATE on 7 Nov: Counted the bricks today (well nothing else to do anyway ...) there are about 6,500 ~ 7,000 bricks delivered!

Week 41 - Absolutely the same ...

Couldn't resist the temptation last night so went to site and have a look .. even at 8pm I could still see there was no new work done this week. Everything was the same as last week! The bricks had not been delivered too!

Maybe the rain has really taken its toll or maybe last week had too much progress so they are a bit slack this week?

Hope it gets better next week!

The forecast is ... rain rain rain ...

It looks like this weeks progress may not be too promising .. the forecast basically says it'll rain all week!

But then there will be two clear weeks after that and hopefully the builder will get bricks done by then. The rest of the building process will be less subject to weather then!

The street is filling up quickly!

In the immediate neighbourhood, there are 26 blocks and 15 of them are at various development stages now, including 3 fully completed.
